Join the PTO as a Board Member
The Friends of Wildwood PTO (FOW PTO) Board of Directors is a group of mostly parents of current Wildwood students that manage the property, events, and affairs of the PTO. Officers and General Board members are elected yearly in May, and terms of service run from July 1 through June 30th.
Officers of the Board serve no more than 2-year terms in the same role and consistent of:
General Board Members attend monthly General Meetings and support the organization by serving as primary co-chairs of at least one FOW PTO event and/or initiative including but not limited to:
Honorary Board Members are Wildwood's principal, assistant principal, a member of the LSC, and one to three teachers. More Honorary Board Members can be added if there is interest. There is no limit to the number of one-year terms an Honorary Board Member may serve. This role is an advisory position and brings much needed insight into the happenings and needs of the school.

- President: Oversees the Board. Liaison between PTO, School, and Local School Council. Runs monthly Board Meetings.
- To be eligible for the role, be a member of good standing and serve a previous term as an Officer and/or General Board Member.
- Co-Vice President(s): Supports the President. Manage Board Meetings in the President's absence.
- Secretary: Takes minutes during monthly Board Meetings and any special meetings. Holds the copy of the current bylaws. Maintain Member and Board directory.
- Treasurer: Manages the finances for the Board. Presents financial reports during the monthly Board Meetings. Responsible for annual federal and state tax returns.
- Past President: Stays on the board after their term. Works with President as needed.
General Board Members attend monthly General Meetings and support the organization by serving as primary co-chairs of at least one FOW PTO event and/or initiative including but not limited to:
- Color Run
- Spring Fling
- Fun Day
- Communications
- Dine-outs
- Teacher Appreciation Days
- Holiday Market

Friends of Wildwood PTO Membership
Every parent or guardian of any student enrolled during the academic year at Wildwood, as well as every administrator, faculty or staff member of Wildwood is automatically a member of FOW PTO. Other community members may become members by contacting [email protected]. Funds raised from our annual membership dues are used to:
- Support Wildwood's facility, curriculum, and staff
- Provide funding for school needs that cannot be accommodated by Wildwood's annual CPS budget
- Provide additional enrichment opportunities for Wildwood's students
- Plan fun and engaging events for our students and parent/caregiver community such as:
- Back to School Picnic
- International Night
- Middle Years Program Dances
- Holiday Market
- Teacher Appreciation Events
- Fun Day
- 8th Grade Graduation and more!
Volunteer!
We are always seeking parents, caregivers, and other members of the community to become more involved with the FOW PTO in a variety of ways. We seek board members, event planning committee members, and general volunteers for our events throughout the year. There are many ways that you can impact Wildwood, and we welcome your input and new ideas!
Volunteering for the FOW PTO is not intended to be overly time consuming for our parents and caregivers. We welcome the contribution of your time as you are able throughout the year.
